Today was the start of a block of the month featuring Esther Aliu's interpretation of the 1790's marriage coverlet pictured below.

The black and white picture of the quilt comes from the book "Patchwork" (1956) by Averil Colby.  Esther doesn't know the quilt's present location. If anyone reading this has information on the quilt please post your findings in the comments section.

I will be downloading the monthly pattern, but I'm not sure if or when I will start working on this quilt.  I love the center, but at this point I would have a difficult time figuring out which fabrics or colorway I'd use.  I suppose the easy thing would be to make mine black and white, but that would require more quilting courage than I possess.  Only time will tell.

Here are a few pictures of the English Paper Piecing project.

It Takes Two pattern by Sue Daley

Template and fabric

The fabric is folded and tacked around the template

All the pieces are sewn together in a circle, template is removed
and the circle is appliqued to the background.

I have to make 384 of these and as of today am up to 280.
If I endure, it will be pretty when done.
All the fabrics are William Morris collections by different designers.

I suppose it was inevitable. Everyone has a blog, and although I'm usually a bit late to these kinds of happenings, I thought it was time to start mine.
I've had a webpage for many years, where I post pictures and descriptions of my quilts. I've also had a personal webpage, but that hasn't been updated for a very long time.
I'm not sure I want to put my personal musings on the web, and I suppose if it's to be worthwhile, it'll have to get somewhat personal. I'll see what develops.
I think I'll start with the new english paper piecing project.  I have already taken pictures of the process.  I've also figured out already that it is probably my first and last EPP project.
On Friday Esther Aliu will start a new applique quilt Block of the month (BOM) quilt project.  I am going to start collecting the monthly pattern, but right now I'm not sure if or when I'll start the project.  Stay tuned.
